Principal Biography

Bert Watson
President

Bert Watson, the president of Watson & Company, founded the company in 1993 after eight years as a Congressional staffer. His experience in assisting businesses with federal issues, international problems, and bureaucratic red tape helped him hone his business interaction and advocacy skills. His political network is extensive and his ability to provide strategic direction with congressional sponsorship receives "high marks" from his clients.

While serving on active duty in the Navy, Bert was transferred to San Diego. His experience with the Navy's infrastructure and then as a congressional aide, have provided him with the relevant knowledge to enable successful positioning for his clients. Knowing where to go to get answers to clients' questions, how to expand administrative "interpretive latitude" to include and address clients' issues, and implementing a strong and effective legislative policy are the hallmarks of his acumen.

Bert's experience has been diverse in both scope and direction, with client relations being his primary focus. Most of Watson & Company's new clients are referrals from existing clients because we get results.

During the last nine years as a consultant, he has guided regional input regarding federal legislation reforming the Federal Drug Administration. Additionally, he promoted the nationally televised marquee experiment on Space Shuttle 77, a 50 foot wide, 100 foot long space based reflector called the Inflatable Antenna Experiment (IAE). Bert has also successfully managed numerous DOD funding requests through Congress for technology enhancement.

Bert is expert at distilling the client's concerns into a distinct and appropriate issue item and developing a cogent and concise government or community action plan targeted at the key decision makers.
